Pop Goes The Weasel

It was another family reunion of sorts for Henley this weekend. On Sunday, we took Henley to a Shiba Meetup at Shirlington Dog Park. Among the many Shibas present was Hanabi, Henley's first cousin and Itachi, Henley's nephew. We've known Hanabi for a while, but this was our first chance to meet our friend John's newest addition, Itachi.

Itachi is four months old and his name means weasel in Japanese. This was fitting because every time Hanabi chased her new brother, he tried to escape the small dog enclosure by squeezing through the gate that leads to the big dog area. He did not succeed, but it was a good effort!

Itachi was full of energy and reminded us a lot of Henley at that age. Go, go, go and always eager to play with the bigger dogs. He was very friendly and gave me lots of puppy kisses.

Seeing how well Itachi and Hanabi get along, it really makes me want a little sister for Henley. We wonder if he'll be as good a sibling as Hanabi is. She lets Itachi snuggle and they play really well together. Maybe one day in the future we'll get a second Shiba, but for now, Henley is perfectly happy to have the house to himself!
