Last week Henley went for his annual physical. He's 27lbs. and in great health, we're happy to report. He is now caught up on his shots and is good to go for 2012.However, he didn't get off scott free during his exam. Henley has gotten to be quite cranky when we inspect his paws or teeth. Nothing aggressive but he does bare his teeth and growl. Since we know him so well, we know he's just saying "hey I don't like this," but the awesome vets and techs at Ballston Animal Hospital aren't as familiar, so he got muzzled!
As you can see, he isn't so thrilled! He generally does ok in the lobby because he gets lots of attention and treats. But the exam room he loves not. It's like he can sense the not so fun things that have happened in that room. At least they didn't need to take is temperature!
How does your Shiba do at the vet?
Hahaha. Poor Henley. Is the growling a recent thing? Azami's started to get fussy about being picked up/harnessed (same thing - growling, and we know she's just basically being a brat), but I kind of thought it might be a phase. You know. The Shiba equivalent of being a bitchy teenager :P
ReplyDeleteHope you guys are doing well, and happy holidays! :D
It sounds like Sam and Henley have some opposite behavior. Sam is fine when taken back (though he does whine a little), but is generally a wreck in the waiting room. If you ever want to feel better about Henley, just ask Ballston about how stressed out Sam can get and the secret entrance they let us use from time to time :) Glad Henley survived!
ReplyDeletein April...I had to take Hiro to the vet for an ear infection...it was such a traumatizing experience for him and me! he had to get muzzled.....a technician had to come in and hold him down... =(
ReplyDelete*sigh* ... Bowdu's terrible. Every vet has inducted us into the Shibas-with-muzzles club, too. I think we've earned enough points for lifetime membership at this rate.
